Founded in Baltimore
Alexander Fruman and his sons Isadore and Phillip establish National Lumber in Baltimore’s Little Italy
1933
Third Generation Joins
Leonard Fruman, Isadore’s son, joins the company as a teenager
1958
Canton Expansion
National Lumber acquires P.M. Womble Lumber Company in Canton, gaining a sawmill and planing operation that fuels growth in commercial and industrial markets.
1968
Pulaski Highway Move
The business relocates to its current 10-acre headquarters on Pulaski Highway, securing space for expansion and a central Baltimore presence.
1970s
Fourth Generation Leadership
Leonard’s son Arnold joins the firm, continuing the family tradition and broadening product lines and customer reach.
2000
Fifth Generation Begins
Arnold’s sons, Kevin and Neal Fruman, enter the business, bringing new energy and positioning National Lumber for the future.
2019
Renovation of Pulaski Hwy Location
To modernize and meet growing demand, we completely renovated our flagship location, expanding our showroom and office footprint, and updating our branding and facade.
2023
Launch of Multi-Family & Commercial
National Lumber establishes Multi-Family & Commercial, a dedicated division serving developers, builders, and property managers in large-scale residential projects.
2025
Acquisition of Fisher Lumber
National Lumber acquires Fisher Lumber in Rockville, expanding its footprint and strengthening its presence in the Washington, DC market.
